futures:Lauren Foley found a job that allows her to be inventive...

Lauren found the best of both worlds when she joined the Coast Guard. She serves the Military by teaching the next generation of Coast Guard chefs to cook for their shipmates.

Lauren teaches her students how to create classic dishes like cakes and braided breads as well as the financial side of running a kitchen.

Lauren has learned how to accommodate the dietary restrictions and food preferences of a diverse community of people. She learned to bake a flourless chocolate cake for gluten-free shipmates.

In the future, Lauren hopes to continue training other Coast Guard chefs. She really enjoys the creativity she's allowed in the kitchen and the mentees she works with.

The creativity of the kitchen is what Lauren loves most. For her, it began with art classes in high school which transitioned into her current role where she unleashes her creativity on a plate.

futures:

Lauren Foley found a job that allows her to be inventive and serve her country as a food service specialist in the Coast Guard.
